Tell Me More About ODC
Old Dominion Chorus is a volunteer-powered, community-focused 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving barbershop harmony through education, performance, and outreach in Loudoun and Fairfax counties. Celebrating our 20th anniversary in 2025, we are the proud local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (est. 1938).
We have no paid staff — just 20 passionate men, our paid director, and the generosity of local donors who make every free concert, holiday show, and Singing Valentine possible.
Frequently Asked Questions
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 20-1263049), chartered as the Loudoun County chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Founded 20 years ago, we are 20 men who meet weekly in Leesburg to rehearse and perform four-part a cappella music. All performances are volunteer-driven, funded by donations, sponsorships, and modest event fees.
You don't need to be perfect — just able to memorize your part, hit the right notes, and listen to others. If you sang in church or school choir (even years ago), you'll fit right in. We'll teach you everything else. If you can't carry a tune, this may not be for you.
Our director will hear your voice and place you where you sound best – tenor, lead, baritone, or bass. No experience needed; we match your range and comfort.
Everywhere! Free public concerts at parks, retirement homes, tree lightings; paid events like corporate gigs, weddings, and our holiday show at Franklin Park Arts Center.
No – we're all volunteers from all walks of life (teachers, engineers, retirees). Our director is the pro who guides us.
No formal audition – just come to a rehearsal! We'll sing together and see if it's a fit. No pressure.
Learning tracks (recordings) for each song – listen on your phone during commutes. We also tag-team in rehearsals.
$20/month dues covers music and coaching. First month free to try.
Donations, sponsorships, and event fees. As a 501(c)(3), every gift is tax-deductible.
Barbershop is unaccompanied 4-part joy – timeless and fun! All-male tradition from 1938, but we welcome all voices in harmony.
Anything in four parts! Classics like Lida Rose, love ballads, spirituals, Elvis, The Platters, Christmas carols, and national anthems. We adapt any genre to barbershop harmony.
